June - July 2008
Elgin
hosted the National Bowling Tournament April 5, 6, 19, 20, 26, 27, May
3-4. Thank you to all of the volunteers that bowled, bartended,
prepared the food, served the food, coordinated bowling, etc. There
were so many that worked and contributed that it is difficult to name
them all. Special recognition goes out to Dave Williams for chairing
the event and for dedicating his time and effort to making it a success.
Thank
you Bill Boergerhoff for all of your hard work on the brunches. The
Mother’s Day Brunch was fantastic and we served 73 people.
Thank
you Jim Thompson for redoing the doors on the upstairs bar. They look
great!
We are
sorry to announce that Murray McGough has stepped down as the Elgin
Turners vice-president. If anyone is interested in filling this
position please see me or come to the next meeting. Thank you Murray
for all of your hard work as our V.P. Your contributions are truly
appreciated!
Doug
Anderson, President

Have you seen Elgin Turner’s Club Lately ?
Several renovations are being done at the Elgin Turners building. Most recently
was a huge project laying new tiles on the upstairs floor and around the bar
area.. We thank our President Doug Anderson for all of the work and talent he
put into this. It is absolutely beautiful! Please come and check it out!
On behalf of Doug Anderson and the Elgin Turner membership, heartfelt thanks go
out to the following people for all of their hard work including massive
clean-up on the floor project: Wayne Elste, Bill Boergerhoff Sr., Murray

Wrap-Ups
The Elgin Turners organization would like to give a
big thank you to Angie and Jennifer Luthardt and everyone else
who helped plan, organize, volunteered, and attended the Kid's
Christmas Party. Without the help of these people and the
sponsors who made the party possible we would never be able to
put such a great event for the kids. Once again from all of us
at the Elgin Turners. Thank You.
Murray McGough, VP
The Kids Turner Christmas Party was held December
16,2007 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. The day was filled with food,

November, 2007
Season's greetings,
As the holidays are upon us, come on in and have some holiday cheer with
your fellow Turners. Stop in after that hard evening of shopping, or
for the sporting events, or even just to say hello.
Special thanks to all who have helped with the events of the last few
months. Some times I don't thank everyone properly, and I want to say
that I appreciate everything everyone does to help make the club a
better place. Without our volunteers (& employees), our organization
would not be what it is today.
It seems to me, from comments made at the last meeting and some other
meetings, that some feel that if I write something in the newsletter it
is the law of Elgin Turners. I would like to remind everyone that this
newsletter is for informational purposes, and opinions expressed within
are the sole opinions of the authors, and may or may not reflect actual
motions passed by the membership.
As I have repeatedly stated, I urge all members to attend meetings. Have
your questions answered in our official forum, as well as put forward
your opinions, suggestions and concerns to the membership. The
executive board and myself can influence members and give our
recommendations, but the voting power lies within the membership. If
you are a member, your voice counts, so please come to the meetings.
The December meeting is even more important, it is the yearly
meeting when Dues & Assessments can be changed. It also is the meeting
where next year’s executive board will be elected.
Just a reminder, there is Beer Sausage (Dec 16th) and Family Breakfast
(Dec 30th). There are raffles at both, so come to Turners for Beer
Sausage or Family Breakfast every month. You can buy the raffle tickets
from our bartenders.
We are having a New Years Eve Party, so plan on ringing in 2008 with us,
details available at the hall. The Children's Christmas party is almost
here. If you plan on bringing children to this event please fill out a
registration form and get it in (preferably early) to ensure Santa will
have the right gifts. I would like to send out a Special Thank you to
Doug Anderson from Doug's Custom Flooring, and another anonymous
donor for extremely generous donations to help fund this great event.
If you have donations for this event there are donation jugs on the bar
and a 50/50 raffle to help promote the event.
Till Next Year, Dave Williams
To all fellow Turner members, Happy Holidays!
The past month we have had many great events take place at the
Elgin Turners and I would like to say thank you to the
volunteers.
First, if you were not at the 1450 you missed a heck of great
time and a good meal. I would like to thank the people that made
this happen. First and foremost, a thank you goes out to Mark
Pophal, who once again donated his time and DJ equipment. For
the last couple of years Mark has done this for the Turners and
we really appreciate this. Thank you Mark. In addition, special
thanks goes out to “Master Chef” Jack Bucaro, who cooked an
outstanding prime rib dinner for everyone, the kitchen crew,
which was lead by Dan Wascher and Bill Boergerhoff Jr. with the
help of the servers D.J. Trunnell, Jeff Trunnell, Kaleigh
Trunnell, Grace Roth, Tony Berrafato, and Cole Boergerhoff. Also
the bartenders for the event Theresa Ernst, and KK. Also, thank
you to MC Wayne Elste who was a big help with promoting the
event. Thank you Wayne. Without the help of all these
volunteers, we could not have put on this event.
The following weekend we had the turkey raffle, which was
orchestrated by our fearless treasurer, Dennis Eder. Dennis has
put this event together for a while now and we thank him for
putting on such a great event. Special thanks go out to everyone
who helped with the raffles. We were successful in raffling off
a bunch of turkeys, ducks, pork loins, and liquor baskets for
the club because of you. Thank you David Eder, Pat McCullugh and
Pat Kennelly, I apologize I do not have all of your names if I
forgot your name I apologize and we really appreciate your help.
In addition, I would like to thank the kitchen help and the
bartenders as well. A special thank you goes out to Lisa Alters,
Theresa Ernst, Ryan Daly, Bill Genz, Kevin Jacob, Chuck Daily,
and Jon Robinson (Jean’s nephew).
Without the help of all of these people, we could not have put
on these events. If I forgot anyone I apologize, we appreciate
your help as well. From all of us at the Elgin Turners we thank
you for volunteering your time to the Turners.
On another note, if you read last month’s newsletter you know we
passed a motion to make more funds liquid by not renewing a CD
account when it comes due, and will be place within a more
liquid account to be earmarked for renovations to the building.
If you missed it, we had a long discussion about this at the
last meeting. Regardless of which side you were on within the
discussion, we all shared the same view that renovations/
improvements need to be made to the club. We have been forming a
committee to address these issues within the club and are still
looking for a more people to join the committee. Everyone is
welcome to join the committee and encouraged to do so. The
committee will be planning to convene in January. Please contact
us if you are interested in joining this committee at the hall
or give me a call . Once again thank you to all volunteers and
Happy Holidays to all fellow Turner members. See you down at the
hall.
Gut Heil!
Murray McGough, Vice President
